Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally ended his four game goal-less streak with a double as Borussia Dortmund picked up a vital 3-0 win on the road against Freiburg.
After missing two early clear chances, it looked as if his struggles in front of goal were set to continue but defender Sokratis Papastathopolos’s opener seemed to give the visitors the much needed calm moving forward.
He ended his dreaded four-game drought 10 minutes into the second half, tapping in a close range shot after some brilliant play from the team captain Marco Reus. Germany international Reus nutmegged Caglar Soyuncu down the left before squaring a flawless pass for Aubameyang who tapped the ball into the empty net.
With 70 minutes played, Aubameyang proved he’s found back his form converting his second still from close range after again some superb inter-play between Ousmane Dembele and Eric Durm.
Borrusia Dortmund dominated the possession for most of the match and in the process delivering one of their best performances this season making to make it 250 away wins in the Bundesliga.
The Black and Yellows were typically in full control of the game and will hope to carry on with similar confidence with the Bundesliga entering one of its trickiest periods in the year.
Borrusia Dortmund will have competitive fixtures in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League and will look to build on their first away clean sheet to find their old form.
