Angola Names Brazilian as Head Coach

The Angolan Football Federation has named Brazil’s Roberto Bianchi as its new coach on Wednesday, 09^th March 9, 2017.

He will be replacing Jose Kilimba, who failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations in the two years he has been in charge.

The 50-year-old who becomes the fourth Brazilian to coach Angola has previously worked in Spain, Indonesia, Jordan, and Montenegro.

He also has domestic experience when he was in charge of Angolan club Petro de Luanda since last year, which gives him knowledge of African football and the home based players.

“We have a huge challenge to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

he said.

The qualification campaign for the 2010 former hosts will start in June against Burkina Faso, Botswana, and Mauritania.

Angola’s failure to qualify for the last two African cup of Nations drops the team back to 148^th in world rankings and a devastating 45^th out of 54 among African countries.

The Black Antelopes will hope the new coach will inspire the nation to move forward and try to recapture its status in African football.
