Guinea Conakry’s League leaders Horoya Athlétique Club is now in charge of Group D of the Total CAF Confederation Cup after beating Gabon’s Mounana.
Sekou Ahmed Camara’s 81st-minute goal settled it to ensure that the Guineans go top on 8 points.
Horoya has never progressed beyond the first round of CAF’s second most prestigious club competition since 1996 and now look confident of breaking that hoodoo this year as it sits ahead of TP Mazembe and Super Sports United – all notable names on the continent.
Two points separate Horoya and second-placed SuperSport United who in turn, is equal on points with Mazembe with both teams on six each.
In Group C, it’s Sudan’s Hilal Obayed running the show on top having collected 7 points. Obayed beat Smouha 2-1 while Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo spanked a shocked Zesco United 3-0 at the Estadio Municipal de Calulo.
Boukama-Kaya struck the back of the net twice before Santos Simones Fabricio rounded up the score with a late spot-kick effort for Recreativo.
Algeria’s MC Alger dominates in Group B with Hicehem Nekkache securing the bragging rights for the Algerians in the 2-1 downing of Swaziland’s Mbabane Swallows.
Platinum Stars drew Tunisia’s CS Safxien one-all in another Group B game played on Wednesday.
The fight is a lot more close in Group A where all four teams; FUS Rabat, Club Africain, Rivers United, and Uganda’s KCCA all have six points each in four matches played.
