Cameroon missed several chances to seal its first win of the 2017 Russia Confederation Cup against Australia.
The two sides who met for the first time in an international game lost their opening games, leaving both in need of a win but settled for a 1-1 draw instead.
Cameroon was the better side as it wasted no time attacking and creating chances to ease past the Australians with terrific runs and tidy passing of the ball.
But several of those decent and abundantly created chances on goal, were led to waste especially by Vincent Aboubakar who failed to lockdown many attempts.
Cameroon could have easily converted three goals or more to breeze past a below-average Australian side who in turn, took advantage of a sloppy defense to equalize.
Caught behind play, Ernest Mabouka gifted Australia a penalty following a reckless tackle which cost the Indomitable Lions two points.
The AFCON Champs next face Germany and will head into its final Group match desperately in need of a win while hoping to cut down on the goal difference while praying that the side gets a favorable result in the other team’s match.
But it does not look much in favor of the African side after Germany and Chile finished on a 1-1 draw and are highly favorites to progress to the next round.
