Polokwane City and Highlands Park played out a 1-1 draw in their Absa Premiership clash on Saturday.
The game saw few chances after the early opening as both sides struggled to get themselves into goal scoring positions.
Polokwane were the first off the blocks with an early corner but was cleared before Eden Nene made another effort three minutes later but was too powerful and handed Highlands Park a goal kick.
Highlands Park then mounted a comeback with Wayde Jooste showing some fancy moves on the flanks but George Chigova was keen on goal and stopped the eventual shot.
Jooste then struck again three minutes later but his shot was blocked and punched back to play by Chigova on Polokwane goal.
Marks Munyai should’ve given Highlands Park the lead in the 25th minute after a slip from Chigoa allowed him in on goal, but the attacker dragged his effort wide of the mark.
Nene then had an open chance for Polokwane but his low shot was blocked by Kapini before Bevans Fransman cleared the danger.
Polokwane created further chances through Manaka and notable Chebezi before the break, but neither could convert with the goal at their mercy.
Highlands Park were quick off the mark following the second half as Peter Shalulile skewed narrowly past the left-hand bottom corner following a strike from close range.
However, in the 65th minute the deadlock was broken. Charlton Mashumba headed into his own net after a cross by Mvelase came off Mzava at the near post.
Nyatama squandered a further gilt-edged chance for an equalizer before golden boot leader Shalulile rattled the woodwork for Highlands Park in the 70th minute.
Five minutes later the scores were level once again. Shalulile sent Mbatha’s delivery from a corner-kick into the back of the net.
Polokwane had a great chance to take the lead with ten minutes when Ryan found himself in a position to head home from close range, but he sent his effort off target.
Higlands Park threatened to score again in the last five minutes as Mbatha picked out Mzava in the box, but his header went over the bar and the spoils were shared.
