AFC Leopards Announce New Head Coach

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have confirmed the appointment of Patrick Aussems as their next head coach.

Aussems takes over the reins from Tomas Trucha who resigned from the position in December 2020 citing threats on his life.

Leopards, who are currently fourth on Betking sponsored league table, were reportedly considering Serbian Zlatko Krmpotic and Ghanaian Maxwell Konadu for the role.

However, the Belgian who has UEFA PRO coaching license has been given the nod due to his experience on the continent, having won league titles in Sudan and Tanzania with Al Hilal and Simba SC respectively.

Aussems will be tasked to end trophy drought at the 13-time Kenyan champions who last won their last league title in 1998.

The 56-year-old will have his first training session on Tuesday and will be in charge for Saturday’s BetWay Cup preliminary round match against Taita Taveta All Stars in Wundanyi.
