South Sudan U-23 national team is expected in Cairo next week for a training camp ahead of its 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tunisia.

South Sudan U-23 national team is expected in Cairo next week for a training camp ahead of its 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tunisia.

The Bright Stars will be hosting Tunisia in Juba on Wednesday, 20 March 2019.

”We have decided that the team pitches camp in Egypt and possibly play a few games,” said South Sudan FA President Francis Amin Michael.

“This qualifier means a lot to us and that’s why we have made sure the team prepares in Egypt before the game,” Amin added.

South Sudan ejected Uganda Kobs in the previous round 2-1 on goal aggregate and they will be desperate for a win if they are to make it to the finals that will be staged in Egypt.

The decisive reverse tie will be played four days later at the Stade du 7 Mars, Ben Gardane, Tunisia.

The AFCON U-23 is played after every four years and acts as a qualifier for the Olympic games. A total of eight teams play at the final tournament.

The 2019 AFCON U-23 is its third edition and will be hosted in four different venues in Egypt from November 8-22 this year, where the qualified teams will be drawn into two groups of four teams.
