A fiercely contested duel ended rather narrowly with Senegal sailing with the points following a 58-53 score.

The Lionesses of Dakar dominated from get-set-go with the Malians trailing by five baskets in the opening minutes with Bintou Dieme the key Senegalese player.

Mali regrouped to launch a comeback and they nearly did but it was too late too little to as Senegal now await the winner between Nigeria and Mozambique match to be played today.

Nigeria, the continental queens, are tipped favourites to win this match.
