African Champions League Semifinal Postponed Again

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the African Champions League semi-final second leg between Egyptian side Zamalek and Moroccan outfit Raja Casablanca.

The clash was originally scheduled for Saturday 24 October before being pushed further to November 1 after several members of Moroccan tested positive for Covid-19.

CAF issued a statement late on Thursday indicating that the clash will be played at a date to be decided, a few hours after reports emerged that Moroccan authorities denied the club’s exit from a Rabat airport.

In the first leg, Zamalek secured a 1-0 win over the 2019/20 Botola champions to hold a crucial away goal advantage ahead of the return leg in Cairo.

CAF has also announced that the final between Zamalek or Raja and Al Ahly of Egypt has been postponed indefinitely.

Last Thursday, Raja confirmed six new coronavirus cases increasing the total number of cases among its players to 14 increasing doubts over its participation in the fixture.

The mini-tournament to decide the 2020 African Champions League winners was scheduled to be completed in Douala, Cameroon, on May 29.

The spike in coronavirus cases prompted Cameroon to turn down the chance to host the matches forcing CAF to announce Cairo as the city that will host the final.
