Al Ahly Coach Disappointed With Platinum Draw

Al Ahly’s draw against FC Platinum in the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League Group B matchday four clash didn’t go well with head coach Rene Weiler.

The record eight-time African champions conceded a 17th minute opener from Stanley Ngala but hit back in the second stanza through winger Marwan Mohsen.

The gaffer, while admitting it was a tough game, said he was disappointed with the result as it derailed their ambitions in the group where they are out to narrow the gap between them and Etoile du Sahel.

“I’m disappointed by the result because we were looking for a win,” Swiss coach Weiler told the post-match news conference.

The draw coupled by Etoile du Sahel 2-1 victory over Sudan’s Al Hilal saw Sahel stretch their lead at the top of the table with two points.

Attention now shifts to Al Ahly, who now sit second on the log with seven points. Al Ahly next game is on Friday 21 February where they are slated to take on Etoile du Sahel in Cairo.

The Egyptian giants, who are not good travellers this season as they are yet to win on the road in Group B, will then meet Al-Hilal away from home in their final group-stage game.
