Record nine-time African champions Al Ahly have landed safely in Sudan in preparations for their CAF Champions League match against Al Merreikh.
Al Ahly players and staff arrived at Khartoum International Airport on Thursday evening ahead of a crucial fifth Group B match on Saturday afternoon.
A win for the Red Devils will see the Egyptian giants book a sport in the quarter-finals of the competition, competing with other top African sides.
The Red Devils coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that his team will have their first training session in Khartoum on Thursday.
The South African coach named a strong traveling contingent that include Egyptian international players, Mohamed El Shenawy, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hany, Mohamed Sherif, and Amr El Soulia.
Veteran winger Walid Soliman is also in Khartoum having recovered from an injury that he sustained back in January in an Egyptian Premier League match against Bank Al Ahly.
The club is expected to make provision for their fans back home on how to keep tabs on the action, with a broadcast line-up via online stream.
Al Ahly are second in Group A with seven points, three behind leaders Tanzania’s Simba and four clear of third-placed AS Vita of the DR Congo, while the next opponents Merreikh lie at the bottom with a solitary point.
