Al Ahly Players Test Negative For Covid-19 Ahead Of AS Vita game

All of Al Ahly’s players and staff have tested negative for the coronavirus ahead of their match-day four of the African Champions League against AS Vita on Tuesday night.

The test was carried out on the players and staff after their arrival in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the crucial Group A match set to be played at Stade de Martyrs, Kinshasa.

The result revealed all the Red Devils players in camp are free from the virus and are available for selection.

“Al Ahly’s head of medical staff, Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla announced that all of the members of the club’s delegation in DR Congo tested negative for COVID-19,” the club said in statement.

“The club’s delegation in DR Congo underwent a COVID-19 test before our game against DR Congo’s AS Vita Club, as part of the preventive and precautionary measures that are set by the Confederation of African Football to combat the spread of COVID-19.”

Al Ahly will be without the services of Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul who is recovering from a hamstring injury.

The Red Devils also lack a consistent scorer and Mahmoud Kahraba, the only player to net twice in Africa during this campaign, having been suspended after a row with coach Pitso Mosimane.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly captain Mohamed El Shenawy has spoken about our upcoming game against the Congolese giants.

“We traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo only to achieve the victory. Al Ahly players have the needed experience to deal with these difficult situations, besides that, we have the support of our fans.

“As Al Ahly players, we decided that we will fight with the spirit of Al Ahly in tomorrow’s game in order to gain the three points.”
