Al Ahly Striker Walter Bwalya Back in Training

Democratic Republic of Congo international Walter Bwalya is back to full training for Egyptian Premier League Champions Al Ahly.

The striker had been sidelined from football action for what the club termed as “abdominal pain” that saw him miss training since Saturday.

The 25-year-old had to undergo medical checkup on Sunday before being cleared by the team medical team led by Dr. Ahmed Abu Abla.

As confirmed by the club’s website the player is now back to raining and is expected to be part of the squad that will face Al Nasr SC in their Egyptian Cup opener scheduled on Wednesday night.

Bwalya joined Al Ahly in January after playing one year and half for El Gouna, where he established himself as one of the promising talents in the Egyptian League.

The former Nkana winger has 6 goals in 20 appearances for Al Ahly, whose are waiting for African  Champions League draw on April 30.

Bwalya missed their last group game against Simba SC due to a slight knock suffered during training forcing coach Pitso Mosimane to exclude him from match.

The 1-0 win against the Tanzanian side extended the Red Devils’ unbeaten home run in the African Champions League to 32 games, with their last defeat coming back in June 2016 against ASEC Mimosas.

Following the victory, Al Ahly finished second place in Group B with 11 points, two behind leaders Simba SC.

The dates for the quarters are pencilled in as 14-15 May for the first leg and 21-22 May for the second leg.
