The African Super Cup pits the winners of the African Confederation Cup against that of the African Champions League winners.
It was all Raja for large parts of the opening exchanges, as the likes of Jmal Markass and Abdelilah Madkour were causing a number of problems for the visitors.
Markass should have given Raja the lead in the seven minute, the winger did well to create space for himself but ended up skewing his effort well wide of the target.
Three minutes later Bal Ahly mounted their first real attack when a cross into the box resulted in a goal mouth scramble with the ball falling to Akram Tawfik, but he fired inches wide from close range.
Raja, however, made tadvantage of their dominance on the 12th minute when at through pass found Madkour who sent a low shot strikes the heel of Yasser Ibrahim after going past keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi, with Ahadad bundling it in over the goal-line.
South Africa international Percy Tau came close on the 36th minute, but Raja goalkeeper Anas Zniti combined with his defenders to concede the third corner of the encounter.
In the 42nd minute, Ayman Ashraf saw his shot from outside the box narrowly miss the target.
The second half continued in the same fashion as the first, with Al Ahly seeing most of the ball, although both sides struggled to create any openings due to the congestion in the middle of the park.
Ten minutes later Percy Tau tried his luck from long range, but the Raja Casablanca keeper made another fine save.
That was about as good as it got in the hour mark until Aliou Dieng missed a seater on the 78th minute when a powerful 20-yard shot went over the crossbar.
Al Ahly threw players forward in the final ten minutes and were rewarded for their efforts with an equaliser in the 89th minute courtesy of a strike from Taher Mohamed, 1-1.
