Al Ahly Winger Confident Of Progress

Al Ahly winger Hussien El-Shahat has said he is optimistic his team can qualify to the quarter-finals of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

Al Ahly winger Hussien El-Shahat has said he is optimistic his team can qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

The Red Devils, who defeated Etoile du Sahel 1-0 last weekend, travel to Khartoum next Saturday, March 1 2020, to play in the last Group B game against Al-Hilal in Sudan.

Al Ahly are placed first on 10 points, narrowly ahead of Tunisia’s Etoile and Sudanese side Al-Hilal, who are both tied at nine points.

And the Egyptian international has claimed his team can overcome the Blue Wave and reach the last four.

“We achieved an important victory over Etoile Sahel, which is one of the biggest teams in the African continent. This will help us to march on in the tournament,” El-Shahat was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“We are ready to book a place in the Champions League quarterfinals when we face Al-Hilal in Sudan.”

Al Ahly only need to draw at Al-Hilal’s Omdurman Stadium to qualify for the quarter-finals.

A win will see the Egyptian giants advance as the group leaders regardless of the outcome of the other match between Etoile and Zimbabwe’s Platinum.
