Al Hilal Ask CAF To Move St George Game Outside Ethiopia

Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan requested that their African Champions League preliminary round match against St George be moved outside Ethiopia , the club said on Thursday.

In a letter sent to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Mazembe said they want to switch the game to a neutral venue because of lingering security concerns in Ethiopia, where fighting has reportedly resumed in Amhara region.

“The security situation in Ethiopia urges us to seek to move the game to a country other than Ethiopia,” Al Hilal said in the letter.

The second leg of the much anticipated clash is scheduled to be played a week later in the Sudanese city of Omdurman.
