Hossam Hassan’s decision to sign up as FC Pyramids coach has left a bitter taste on the mouth of Al Masry.
The Egyptian legend inked the dotted lines with Cairo-based Pyramids FC after the side’s billionaire Saudi owner Turki Al a-Sheikh slapped a hard-to-reject offer on the retired striker’s desk.
Though details about the 52-year-old’s contract remain sketchy, he’s however believed to be on a lucrative deal in a move that will see his brother Ibrahim Hassan join him as technical director.
Helwan-born Hossam’s move to resign and seek new pastures has not been accepted by Masry, who, in a statement hours ago, hit out at the gaffer claiming he remains under their contract books despite Pyramids’ bold step to dispatch a communiqué announcing Hossam’s capture.
“I am surprised that Pyramids announced him as their new head coach since Hossam Hassan was not clear about this,” Masry’s chairman Samir Halabia said, adding, “If he (Hossan Hasan) decided to leave Al Masry like this he will probably leave Pyramids the same way and before an important match.”
Using the Saudi- riches at their owner’s disposal, Pyramids are hoping to end Al Ahly’s dominance in the Presentation-sponsored Egyptian Premier League as they attempt to make for the title at the first time of asking.
They occupy the fourth slot with only two points separating them and leaders El Harby after ten games in the standings.
The June Stadium outfit are eyeing righting the wrongs which culminated into a 2-0 defeat to Ismaily when they go up against fifth-placed Al-Ittihad this Friday.
