Liverpool’s new World Record signing Allison Becker has revealed that former AS Roma team mate Mohamed Salah texted him before his move to the Merseyside.
The duo who played together at AS Roma in the 2016-2017 season will now be re-united after Becker completed a £67 million ($ 118 million) move which makes him the most expensive keeper of all time.
The Brazilian told Liverpool’s official website that he received a message from Salah on Wednesday asking him why he was asking so much time to decide.
“We didn’t have so much contact after he left Roma. We met again in the game when we were up against each other in the champions league in April,” he told liverpool.com
“However, Yesterday, he sent me a message saying; ‘Hey what are you waiting for?’ as the negotiations were in the advanced stages. I replied to him straight away saying; ‘Calm down, am on my way.’
“I’m really happy to have the opportunity to play alongside him again. As well as being a great player, he has great character and he’s a great person. Which is the most important thing.”
“I can’t wait. To be with these great players day to day is fantastic for me. You can be certain I will give it my all,” he added
The Brazilian broke the World Record Fee for a goalkeeper after his transfer to Liverpool. His £67 million move surpasses the £34 million Manchester City paid in 2017 to sign his Brazilian teammate and under-study Emerson.
