Amadia Kawah: A Young Star Taking Liberia’s First division League by Storm

A young star in his own right, Amadia Kawah has proven to be one of the standouts in the Liberian First division league.

A move to first division side Keitrace FC, during the 2011/2012 season has shown the 17-year-old increasingly becoming a threat to defenders in the way he applies his scoring skills.

Before that, the young forward netted 14 League goals and 4 FA Cup goals for Second division side Bardnersville Young Controllers (BYC) and finished the season as the second highest goal scorer and Most Valuable Player.

The former BYC front man uniquely mastered the ability to shoot with both feet, registering him on the score sheet with ten goals during his second season in which he won the second division championship with the club.

It comes as no surprise that the talented forward’s exceptional stats caught the attention of top flight division clubs, earning him a move to Keitrace FC where he wasted no time in kicking off a good debut season with six goals in the championship and three in the FA Cup.

The following season which the forward described as difficult ended with eight goals to his name – six in the championship and two in the knockout.

Kawah, nevertheless, impressively maintained his scoring form last season to net 10 goals in all competitions (7 in the league, 3 in the FA Cup) at which time his side was referred to as the ‘giant killers’.

Keitrace’s commendable performance this season despite failing to progress through to the final of the FA Cup, can to a considerable amount, be attributed to the young forward’s consistently outstanding performance which has seen him finish as one of the top scorers in the league and highest in all competitions – scored 18 times in all competitions.

He got a brace in his side’s 3-2 away win over LISCR FC in the first leg of the FA Cup semi-final but was unlucky in the return leg when his side fell to a 3-0 defeat.

Midweek, meanwhile, nearly proved to be a setback in LISCR FC’s title achievement after drawing 1-1 with Keitrace who finished the season in 8th position with 29 points from 22 games. Kawah opened the score line in the 40th minute, to sum up, his tally to 12 goals and level with BYC striker, Van-Dave Harmon.

At such a young age, the ingenious goal scorer earned himself a selection in the provisional list of players for the 2018 African Nations Championship but was left out of national team coach James Debbeh’s final list.

It is now all fingers crossed for the 17-year-old who hopes to get a call-up for the upcoming WAFU tournament slated for September in Ghana.
