Ammouta Takes Coaching Reigns At Wydad

Moroccan giants Wydad Casabalanca, have appointed Houcine Ammouta as  the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract.

The former Qatar SC coach replaces Walid Regragui who parted company with Wydad by mutual consent earlier this month.

It is the second time the former Atlas Lions international will take charge of Wydad having first coached the club in 2017-2018.

During his first stint at Wydad Casablanca the experienced gaffer won the African Champions League with the club.

He managed the side at their first  Club Wolrd Cup appearance where they finished at the bottom of the six-team tournament after two defeats by Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and Mexico’s Pachuca.

Before that, he had won Throne Cup and the African Confederation Cup with FAR Rabat in 2010 as part of his coaching career.

He subsequently moved to Al-Sadd and helped win the Qatar Stars League and the Emir of Qatar Cup twice in 2012 and 2013.

He also coached Morocco local-based players team and he successfully claimed the Africa Nations Championship with them.
