Gambian defender Bubacarr Sanneh could be on the brink of yet another move barely six months after joining Danish champions FC Midtjylland, Ducor Sports can report.
The highest scoring centre-back in the Scandinavian country joined the Herning-based outfit in a reported €200,000 fee from AC Horsens this January.
However, he could be on the cusp of seeking pastures new again if recent rumours are anything to go by amid Anderlecht’s interest.
Belgian giants Anderlecht relinquished the domestic title to Club Brugge last term and want to reclaim it at resumption of the league.
In a campaign that saw them settle for the second best slot, Anderlecht was bit of a shambles at the back, a situation further worsened by the absence of Senegalese star Kara Mbodji through injury.
And hoping to spur back to relevance, the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium outfit are ardent on adding Bubacarr Sanneh to their ranks to patch up a back-four leakage that had them conceding nine goals in ten play-off matches.
In a desperate means to ensure their pursuit come to fruition, The Purple and Whites have slapped a €5m bid on Midtjylland chairman Rasmus Ankersen’s table.
The offer is aimed at testing the Danish champions’ resolve who, according to reports, are reluctant to sell a player who’s only beginning to blossom.
Switching to Anderlecht will make for an impressive career CV but Sanneh moving there will hinge first on his club’s to sell and his suitor’s ability to guarantee regular playing time.
For now, the newly crowned Denmark Super League kings are preoccupied with getting arsenal ready for the Uefa Champions League qualifiers.
Dubbed Timber – meaning a thick log –for his no nonsense approach, the Bundung-born is one of Gambia’s fastest rising centre-backs.
