APR Preparing To Submit Offer For Exit-Bound Simba Striker Kagere

Rwanda Premier League giants APR FC are preparing to submit an offer for exit-bound Simba Sports Club striker Meddie Kagere, Ducor Sports has learnt.

Kagere is weeks away from his contract expiry date at Msimbazi Reds, with little sign of renewal in horizon with the forward linked with an exit from the club as it was the case last season.

The 34-year-old, who helped Simba secure three Tanzania Premier League titles, is now attracting interest from APR, who are hoping to lure him to Kigali on a free transfer.

APR hierarchy are  confident that he still has plenty to offer at the highest level despite seeing him reduced to a bit-part role at Simba in the current season.

Kagere joined Simba in June 2018 after his contract with the Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia ended.

His move from Gor Mahia is reported to have earned him USD 80,000 as a sign on fee, and with a monthly salary of USD 4,000.

Kagere has also played for Atraco FC, Kiyovu Sports, Mukura Victory, Police FC, Rayon Sports in his home country, and KF Tirana of Albania.

The striker was a major cog in the Simba team that made it to the quarterfinals of the 2020/2021 African Champions League where they were eliminated by South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.

Kagere has so far scored 52 goals in 76 appearances with Simba SC.He was linked with a move to either of the Egyptian sides Zamalek SC and Al Ahly.

His 20 goals last season helped his club seal the Tanzania Premier League for a third consecutive season and ended the league top scorer for the second time since his switch at the club.
