Aristide Bancé Retires From International Duty

Burkina Faso football star Aristide Bance has announced his retirement from international football after 17 years with the Stallions.

Burkina Faso football star Aristide Bance has announced his retirement from international football after 17 years with the Stallions.

The 35-year-old has been a key member of the Stallions since he made his debut appearance against Burundi in August 2003.

During his stint in the national team, Bance played in three Africa Cup of Nations, where he won a silver medal in 2013.

The former Chippa United announced his decision on social media Tuesday after he paid a courtesy call on the country’s President Christian Kabore.

“I also took advantage of these moments to officially announce to him my intention to end my international career, the end of my adventure with the Stallions of Burkina Faso and finally give him my lucky number 15,” Bance wrote.

Bance currently plies his trade with Guinea giants Horoya AC, having previously played for USFA, Al Masry, Chippa United and ASEC Mimosas among others.

The well-travelled front man gained prominence on the continent after playing a leading role in the national team’s run to the final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, which they lost 1-0.

Bancé made 79 appearances and scored 24 goals in the process for his country.
