Arta Solar, Tusker Face Off In CAF Champions League Task

AS Arta Solar 7 will rock horns with Tusker FC in the 2021/2022 CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg tie on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 17h00 EAT.

The game is scheduled to take place at the Hassan Gouled Stadium in Djibouti City.

Arta Solar booked the ticket by winning the Djiboutian Premier League last season, finishing top on 48 points, 11 ahead of their closest opponents As Police Nationale in the 10-team league.

Former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song played an integral role in Arta/Solar 7’s triumph with his presence in the middle of the park.

The Djiboutian side is aware a win at home is all they need to increase their chances of eliminating the Kenyan side from the completion.

Meanwhile, Tusker qualified for the Champions League after topping the Kenyan Premier League standings by June 30, the date that was set mark date by the Football Kenya Federation to pick  the country’s continent premier clubs competition representative.

Tusker coach Robert Matano is aware of galaxy of stars in the Djiboutian outfit and has warned his charges abound the danger of focusing on former Barcelona midfielder, who signed for the African side last year.

“We are okay since we arrived here and have fully prepared for the match. It is a tough game but as I said earlier our focus is not on an individual player but the game itself. If we all concentrate on Song and other big names in their team, then they can use other options to beat us tactically,” Matano told Nation.

The Brewers has been active in the current transfer window recruiting more than ten players including Charles Momanyi, keeper Patrick Matasi, Kalos Protus Kirenge, Ibrahim Joshua and Teddy Osok.

The winner of the two-legged tie will proceed to the first round where they will face off with Egypt’s champions and Cairo giants Zamalek FC in mid-October.
