Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan made his Ghana Premier League debut on Saturday 28 November after coming on for Raphael Ocloo in the 70th minute for the clash between his new side Legon Cities and Medeama at Accra Sports Stadium.
Gyan, who parted ways with Indian Super League side North East United in December 2019, snubbed several offers abroad and opted to return to his home country as he prepares for his retirement from football.
He joined Legon Cities at the beginning of November, making a return to the Ghana Premier League where it all began for him 17 years ago, having left Liberty Professionals before signing his first professional contract with Italian side Udinese.
On Saturday he made his debut for his new club on the third day of the new season in a match that ended goalless with the two sides picking a point apiece.
Legon Cities are 13th on the log with two points obtained from two draws. They play Dreams FC in their next league match on Sunday 5 December away.
They are expected to perform better under experienced Ghanaian coach Bashiru Hayford who took the reins of the team four days ago.
The gaffer will be in charge of the side for an initial period of a year and his contract is extended until the end of 2023 depending on his performance with the side.
