Asante Kotoko Postpones Turkey Trip

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko will not be travelling to Turkey for pre-season matches as earlier planned.

The Porcupine Warriors were to spend two weeks in the European nation but have been hit by bottlenecks when a number of players couldn’t secure visas leading to cancelation of the trip.

In a statement, the club said: “ Our planned trip to Turkey for the second phase of our pre-season was originally scheduled for 14th August 2022 has been postponed due to visa processing delays.”

Kotoko had already named a 65-man travelling contingent for their two-week preseason training in Europe.

The friendlies were to shape the team in preparations for African Champions League against Burkinabe side RC Kadiago.

The Kumasi-based side will be looking to defend their 2021/2022 title and win the trophy for the 25th time in the club history.

Their last season win was the team’s firs in eight yearsfollowing their previous league trophy in the 2013/14 season.

The 2022/23 Ghana Premier League will kick off on the weekend of Friday, 9 September to Monday, 12 September 2022, across all nine Premier League centres.
