Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have parted ways with Maxwell Konadu, the club has confirmed.
The former Wa All Stars mentor has been fired after a string of poor results this season that has seen the Porcupine Warriors pick up five points after four Ghana Premier League games.
The Konadu’s side suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at the Great Olympics on Thursday and consequently dropped by one spot to the 10th position.
Konadu joined Asante Kotoko in December 2019 on a three-year deal but met with the club management this afternoon and both parties agreed to go their separate ways.
He is expected to be replaced by former Baroka Swallows gaffer Dylan Kerr whose appointment is supposed to be agreed next week.
“Management of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club wishes to inform the general public that it has decided to part ways with Coach Maxwell Konadu as its Head Coach with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.
“In the interim, Coach Johnson Smith has been appointed to lead the team in its technical direction.”
Konadu was at his second spell at Kotoko having guided the team to the 2011 Ghana Premier League title.
Asante Kotoko are set to face Dreams FC in their next game on Sunday before switching their attention to the African Champions League where they take on Al Hilal of Sudan in the first round of the competition.
The Kumasi-based outfit, who are 23-time Ghana Premier League champions, are the most successful club in the history of the top-flight.
