English Championship side Reading FC have confirmed that Kenyan winger Ayub Timbe will wear the number 25 jersey until the end of 2019/2020 campaign.
Timbe moved to Reading in the January transfer window on loan from Chinese side Beijing Renhe.
However, after the announcement was made, fans were left waiting to see his shirt number.
Fans immediately began speculating over what shirt he would be given, having worn the number seven while at Harambee Stars.
But that was cleared up when Reading posted images on their social media pages confirming Timbe’s jersey number.
“Shirt number confirmed. New signing Ayub Timbe Masika will wear the number 25,” the club posted on Facebook.
Timbe is a pacy right-sided winger whose game possesses both trickery and skill.
He received his football education in Belgium where he rose through youth ranks of Beerschot AC before signing professional terms at Genk in 2010, according to Reading FC portal.
At Genk, Timbe played alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Christian Benteke and scored his first goal in a Europa League qualifying clash against FC Luzern in August 2012.
Timbe went on loan to Lierse in 2014 and made the move permanent two years later, before taking up a new challenge with a transfer to the Chinese capital and Beijing Renhe in 2017.
In China he was in fine form in front of goal, reaching double figures during his spells at Renhe and on loan with Heilongjiang FC.
Timbe made his international debut against South Africa in October 2012, coming off the bench to play alongside Tottenham Hotspurs star Victor Wanyama and against former Royals loanee Bongani Khumalo.
