Bafana Coach Hugo Broos Speaks Following South Africa’s Loss To Morocco

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has disclosed that he was not disappointed with South Africa’s loss to Morocco in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier  played in  Casablanca on Thursday night.

South Africa took the lead on the 8th minute when Lyle Foster beat the offside trap before firing past a low shot which beat goalkeeper Yassine Bounou at his near post. Morocco leveled courtesy of En-Nesyri’s header on the 51st minute as they went on to find the winner with Ayoub El Kaabi sweep on the 88th minute.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Broos praised his players for their impressive display, but admitted he was not impressed with the result.

“No, not at all [the result we wanted]. I think long term of the game I thought we could win, then after the goal we receive I was happy with one point, if you get a second goal so close to the end it’s disappointing,” Broos told Bafana’s media team.

“So that was good. Let’s hope that we can do it in September twice and hopefully get two victory.”
