Bandari FC coach Benard Mwalala has been linked with a move to Tanzania’s Yanga in the Vodacom Premier League.
According to reports from Tanzania tabloids, Yanga has made an informal bid for the Kenyan in their bid to replace Congolese Mwinyi Zahera who has since left the club.
The 35-year-old arrived at the coastal side in July last year and guided Bandari to a second-place finish in the Kenyan Premier League.
The youthful tactician, who previously coached Magomeni FC, Muweza and Coastal Union in lower leagues in Tanzania, has reportedly been offered a $300,000 (about Ksh 3M) in transfer kitty by Yanga.
Further reports in Tanzania indicate that should Mwalala leave the dockers, he will try and convince defender Felly Mulumba and midfielder William Wandri to join him at the Njagwani.
Mwalala is not new to Yanga, having previously played for the team as a striker, helping the side win two league titles in 2006 and 2007.
He then decided to quit playing football after picking an injury while playing for Coastal Union in 2011. That injury ultimately ignited a spark that made him feel he had more to offer the sport.
Mwalala chose to venture into coaching in Tanzania before moving back to his native country Kenya where he was appointed Nzoia Sugar FC coach.
In his first season at the Millers, he managed a fifth finish in the National Super League (NSL) and the following season Nzoia returned to the Kenyan Premier League.
