Benin striker Steve Mounié has completed his move to French Ligue One side Stade Brestois 29 on a four-year contract.

Benin striker Steve Mounié has completed his move to French Ligue One side Stade Brestois 29 on a four-year contract.

The 25-year-old sealed the deal from English Championship side Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

During his time at the Terriers Mounié, he scored 19 goals in 95 appearances and is remembered for playing a big part in the club’s survival in the Premier League during the 2017/18 campaign.

“Steve was going into the final year of his contract and with that in mind this transfer made complete sense for the club,” said Huddersfield’s head of football operations Leigh Bromby.

Mounié joined Huddersfield from Montpellier HSC in the summer of 2017 for the club record transfer reported to be £13 million.

He also played for Nimes where he spent six months on loan during the 2015–16 season, and emerged the club’s top scorer for the season, with 11 goals in 33 competitive matches.
