Besiktas Eye Summer Move For Ghanaian Midfielder Afriyie Acquah

Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas will consider going for Yeni Malatyaspor midfielder Afriyie Acquah when the transfer window opens.

Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas will consider going for Yeni Malatyaspor midfielder Afriyie Acquah when the transfer window opens.

The Ghana international, who joined Malatyaspor in August 2019, is understood to be high on the list of targets for Sergen Yaclin ahead of his first full season as manager.

Acquah, 28, has a release clause of around £1 million and Malatyaspor are bracing for approaches. According to a source at Malatya Arena, there is an “interest from another Super Lig” team and his buy-out price means he will be a target.

Yaclin wants a central midfielder as one of his priorities as he looks to rebuild after taking over from Abdullah Avci in January.

The Turkish has been impressed with Acquah since his time in Italy Serie A, where he played for several clubs including Palermo, Parma, Sampdoria, Torino and Empoli.

Turkish Super League is currently suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, but before that, the midfielder had made 23 appearances for Yeni Malatyaspor.

Before moving to Turkey, the midfielder was linked with a move to Newcastle United, Birmingham City and Newcastle United.

Acquah has been a regular for Ghana national team, having played at U-17 and U-20 level before making his senior debut in 2012.

He made one appearance in the 2014 World Cup and has a goal in 35 appearances for the Black Stars.
