BREAKING: Asante Kotoko Swoop For Ugandan Striker

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have bolstered their attack with the signing of Ugandan striker George Abege from Kenyan giants Kariobangi Sharks.

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have bolstered their attack with the signing of  Ugandan striker George Abege from Kenyan giants Kariobangi Sharks.

Abege has an impressive goal scoring record at Sharks, scoring 19 goals in 39 appearances and was one of the key players who helped the Nairobi-based club win their maiden SportPesa Cup last year.

The Porcupines confirmed the frontman’s capture in a statement on their official website on Tuesday stating that the player will don the red and yellow jersey until 2022.

“George Abege signed the terms on Tuesday after leading Kariobangi Sharks to beat English giants, Everton 4-3 on penalties in the SportPesa Cup on Sunday,” part of the statement reads.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “The lanky marksman, who was bought out of contract from the Nairobi-based club, was one of Kariobangi Sharks’ key assets and his presence will help Asante Kotoko in great measure.”   [/perfectpullquote]

Abege’s International Transfer Certificate (ITC) has reached the Porcupines, and the player is expected to join his colleagues this week.

Upbeat and rearing to go at his new club, Abege told reporters: “I am happy, this is a new chapter in my life. Asante Kotoko is a team that is ambitious and has a lot of quality. I will work hard to help the team attain its goals.”

Kotoko noticed George Abege in the Confederation Cup preliminary round tie against Kariobangi Sharks, and his qualities were found relevant to the side’s set goals for domestic and continental stages next season.

The former Sony Sugar and Bandari striker has great aerial abilities and ball control coupled with predatory skills that, on a good day, can make him every defender’s nightmare.
