The Comoros Football Federation (FCF) has written to Confederation of African Football (CAF) seeking for Cameroon to be banned from participating in the on-going 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
This has been revealed by Comoros national team general manager Saadi Ben Amir, days after CAF announced its Executive Committee’s decision to withdraw the organization of next year’s tournament from the central African nation.
According to Amir, Comoros want CAF to apply article 92 of CAF Regulations of Africa Cup of Nations on Cameroon, which states that ‘a country that is withdrawn from hosting the tournament shall be suspended from the next two editions, without considering the current edition’.

“As per the regulation of Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon should be banned from participating in the qualifiers….We are waiting for an answer,” said Amir in an interview on Radio France International on Thursday, as translated from French.
Comoros are currently sitting in the second position of Group B of the qualifiers that also has Cameroon, Malawi and Morocco.
Their last match will be next year against Cameroon, where a victory would guarantee their qualification in the 24-teams competition for the first time in history.
The 2019 finals will take place from June 15-July 13, a change from the traditional January period.
