BREAKING: Ghana Striker Slams Kidnap Claims as ‘Laughable’

Former Black Star forward Hans Kwofie has debunked widespread reports of his kidnap.

Former Black Star forward Hans Kwofie has debunked widespread reports of his kidnap.

The 29-year-old is believed to have been victim of a kidnap shortly after joining new club Tanzanian premier league outfit Singida United.

However, the former Ghana Premier League golden boot winner has swiftly moved to deny the claims describing the reports in the media as ‘laughable and shocking.’

The erstwhile Madeama FC goal-getter said he was left bereft and shocked by his family members’ inquiries over his well being after learning of the news.

“I am getting calls from all over the place with claims I have been kidnapped. I just can’t believe it. It’s extremely laughable to say the least. It’s a figment of people’s imagination,” he said.

“Go and check the official twitter handle of the club. It was written in Swahili that I have started training and so I suspect whoever wrote the story missed the translation. I am here and training hard. I have not been kidnapped by anybody and so those reports must be disregarded. It’s extremely shocking to me. Some people are too much in a hurry to feel relevant and that’s problematic,” he told GhanaWeb.

First capped with the Ghana national team in 2015, Kwofie joined Singida on a free transfer after leaving Egyptian side Smouha this summer.
