BREAKING: Kidnapped Top Flight Coach Released in Cameroon

The coach of Cameroon top-flight club Yong Sports Academy, Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso, who was kidnapped on Tuesday has been released by his abductors.

Bosso, who won the Cameroon Cup in 2013 with the team, was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen, who had demanded CFA 10 million as ransom.

Following his release, Bosso has returned to Bamenda where he is recovering from the traumatic ordeal which came as a shock to the football fraternity, especially his professional colleagues who had called on the Cameroonian government to intervene.

“We are happy that it is all over,” said a source.

Our source was however silent on whether any ransom was paid.

Bosso was kidnapped on Tuesday morning while on his way to a training session at the club’s stadium when the unidentified gunmen blocked his vehicle.

His abductors warned the management of Young Sports Academy not to speak with the press about the coach’s situation.

However, the club went on and released a statement confirming the abduction explaining how it took place, adding that security forces had launched a search operation to rescue Bosso.

The 52-year-old gaffer is one of the respected coaches in Cameroon considering how he helped Union of Douala win the Cameroon Cup in 1997.

And after leaving the club, Bosso joined Sable de Baite two years later and helped the club win Cameroon league title.

Yong Sports Academy are tied on 12 points with UMS of Loum at the top of Pool B in Cameroon’s championship after the first phase of the league.
