The South Sudan national team, Bright Stars, on Sunday September 12, 2020 kicked off preparations for the upcoming friendly match against Cameroon.
13 local-based players took part in Sunday’s session with Uganda based Nafian Legason Alionzi also featuring in the evening session at Buluk playground.
“This friendly match is crucial in our preparations for the upcoming back-to back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Uganda in November. We have 14 players in camp at the moment. More players will be joining us in the course of the week,” said Bright Stars assistant coach Thomas Jacob.
Stars are set to engage Cameroon “B” team 10th October away in Yaoundé for a friendly that will be part of the team’s preparations ahead of back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Group B qualifiers against Uganda.
Both Uganda and Burkina Faso have four points but the former are on top courtesy of a better goal difference. The Flames of Malawi have three points while South Sudan has zero points ahead of match-day three action.
The best two teams from each group will qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to take place in Cameroon.
