Burkina Faso are out to secure their passage into the quarterfinals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations when they meet Gabon.
Kick-off is at 16h00 GMT.
The match is scheduled to be played at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium in the Cameroonian city of Limbe.
The Stallions are chasing their second win in the tournament after a lukewarm showing in the group stages.
The West Africans secured their place in the knockout stage after finishing second in Group A which consisted of Cameroon, Cape Verde and Ethiopia.
Coach Kamou Malo led his charges to one win over Cape Verde, a draw to Ethiopia and a loss to Cameroon.
Malo will pin his hopes on players such as skipper Bertrand Traore and the likes of Gustavo Sangare to bring their big match temperament to inspire the side to glory.
On the other hand, Burkina Faso will also want to do better than their second place finish in 2003 in South Africa and rewrite their country’s history.
Coming to the Central Africans, Gabon are yet to lose and have bagged one win and two draws in Group C.
The Panthers emerged second in Group C after opening their group stage assignments with a win over Comoros followed by a draw against Ghana before a convincing 2-2 draw against Morocco.
Having tasted glory on one occasion in 1976, the Atlas Lions they will want to go for glory this year and do better than the seond–place finish they achieved in Tunisia 18 years ago.
Coach Vahid Halilhodžić will ensure his men such as Sofiane Boufal, Tarik Tissoudali and Ayoub El Kaabi are in fine form on the day to beat the Panthers.
This will be the 20th meeting between Burkina Faso and Gabon. The most recent match was in an international friendly played on in Paris in October 2019, with the Panthers winning 1-0.
The winners of this match will face either Nigeria or Tunisia in a quarterfinal in Garoua on Saturday 29 January.
