CAF held the draws for the Confederation Cup final play-off round in Cairo yesterday. The 16 under-performing teams of the Champions League first round automatically entered the play-off round for this year’s Confederation Cup.
The play-off winners in this two-legged round will then also qualify for the group stages. Last year’s runners up Super Sport United, South African PL champions Wits, Al Hilal, El Masary, and Raja Casablanca were surprisingly knocked out of the Champions League but will definitely make the Confederations cup more competitive.
