CS Sfaxien are confident that they will get a good result against Ugandan side Viper SC when the two sides meet in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff tie in Kampala on Saturday.
Ruud Josef Krol and his Sfaxien delegation arrived in Kampala on Thursday night and are hoping for a win which can help them to proceed to the group stage of Africa’s second biggest club competition. Sfaxien host the decisive leg in Tunis on January 20.
Speaking to members of the press after the team’s arrival, Krol stressed that they are not in Uganda to look for a draw, but rather to fight for victory.
“Vipers is a good team and it will be a very difficult match after this long trip from Tunis to Uganda, of course, it always has an influence on the physical part of the team and we hope that we have full recovery after the two days’ rest and we can make a good result here in Uganda,” concluded Krol.
Sfaxien, who are the winners of the Confederation Cup a record three times, reached the playoffs round last month after edging out Zambian side Green Buffaloes 4-2 on aggregate despite losing 1-0 in Lusaka.
Vipers, who are reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions were dropped to the CAF Confederations Cup after they were eliminated by CS Constantine in the preliminary Caf Champions League group qualifiers.
The match will be played at the St. Marys Stadium in the Ugandan capital city, Kampala and will be officiated by Nigerian referee Salisu Baheernd, flanked by Isah Usman and Peter Ogwu as first and second referees respectively.
