The Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspectors yesterday concluded their tour of duty to Abidjan where they inspected facilities submitted by Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) to host 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier group matches.
The team led by Daniel Amokachi visited Stade Champroux, and Stade d’Ebimpé, where they carried out a thorough inspection of the standards for the stadiums.
The turf, size of the pitch, dressing rooms, floodlights, technical bench, pavilion, media centre, parking are among the areas the CAF officials inspected.
Amokachi’s mission covers six other countries in the West and East Africa region including Uganda and Zambia.
Previously, teams from mainly North Africa rejected stadiums and other facilities lined up for them in Abidjan.
If the two stadiums fail to meet FIFA required standards, the Elephants will host the FIFA World Cup qualifier group Stage matches outside the country.
Ivory Coast is also scheduled to host the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the two stadiums are some of those proposed to host the tournament.
