The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a statement on the postponed Africa Champions League first round, second leg clash between Zamalek and Generation Foot.
The match which was initially going to take place on Saturday, September 28 will now be played on Thursday October 24.
Zamalek changed the venue of the clash hours to the game citing unspecified “security measures,” a move which angered Generation Foot as they travelled back home in protest.
The match was set to be played at Petrosport Stadium before White Knights changed the location to Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
According to the statement released by CAF, the Cairo giants have now been ordered to confirm the stadium where the match will take place by Saturday.
CAF further stated that it will reimburse the international travel and local accommodation expenses of Generation Foot and relevant match officials.
However, a further review of the case will be carried out by the CAF Disciplinary Committee in relation to aspects relevant to its competencies.
Generation Foot sprang a surprise by beating five-time Champions League winners Zamalek 2-1 at home in the first leg.
The winner will be placed in pot two in tomorrow evening’s Champions League draw while the losing team will qualify to the second additional preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
