Adidas is reported to be lining up to become the new official shirt sponsor of Indomitable Lions after it emerged that the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has ended its 22-year relationship with Puma.
The contract that linked the Cameroonian FA to the German firm came to an end several weeks ago and both parties failed to reach an agreement on renewal last Thursday in Paris.
Fecafoot has since confirmed to be in talks with a number of kit manufacturers and according to reports, it has emerged Adidas made a presentation that impressed the football association.
Relations between Fecafoot and Puma have been strained since revelations that the normalization committee that was running the federation – led by Dieudonné Happi – tried to cut costs and told Puma last year that the training kits should no longer be produced with the Orange emblem.
The German kit manufacturer has already seen the Indomitable Lions sport the first ever sleeveless football jersey, the first all-in-one kit, and the Puma Africa Unity Kit, which they used as a third strip in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, along with Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Algeria.
Puma had hoped for a smooth continuation of the partnership with the Cameroon Football Federation as one of their key partners in the world of football.
Fecafoot used to rake around $ 2 million per year from Puma who were stocking kits in more than 50 stores across the central African country and were capable of shipping products to 150 countries.
