Dynamo Moscow winger Clinton Njie has tested positive for coronavirus, according to Russian publication Sport Express.

The Cameroon forward was one of the first Dynamo Moscow players to contact Covid-19, along with Russian defender Roman Evngeniev and four other players, who have made recovery.

Njie, a regular for the Russian Premier League side this season, has been in voluntary isolation since Saturday and is following similar procedures that were observed by his teammates.

Njie becomes the second Cameroonian international based in Europe to turn positive after Brentford’s Byan Mbeumo.

Russian football resumed this weekend after getting the green light from the country’s football authorities following a steady drop in the number of new coronavirus cases over the past month.

On Saturday, CSKA Moscow squared off with Zenit St. Petersburg at the VEB Arena in the Russian capital.

Only around 2,000 fans were allowed in the stands for the match based on restrictions set by the league in coordination with Russia’s health authorities to allow a maximum of 10% of a stadium’s total capacity.

On Sunday, Dynamo Moscow are scheduled to travel to face Krasnodar, with health officials announcing that today the country has recorded the lowest numbers of coronavirus since April.
