Veteran Cameroon goalkeeper Idriss Carlos Kameni is reportedly close to joining little-known Djiboutian side Alta Solar 7.
Ducor Sports gathered the deal could be completed as early as Monday but the duration of the contract is yet to be known.
Kameni has been a free agent since parting ways with 19-time Turkish champions Fenerbahce in August 28, 2019, with a year left to his deal.
And at 37 he is set to return to Africa to sign a short-term agreement with the Djibouti Premier League champions who have an aim of boosting their image.
Alta Solar 7, who are also home to former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, are expected to help Kameni maintain his fitness as he continues his search for a European club.
Kameni was widely linked with a return to Spanish football, having previously played for Malaga and Espanyol.
He is believed to be keen to get in shape to play for the Indomitable Lions in the World Cup qualifiers that start in June.
Kameni started his professional career in France, joining Le Havre but could not break into the first team, making only two league appearances for the side throughout his four-year stay.
In an attempt to enjoy regular playing time, the goalkeeper made a switch to Saint-Etienne on loan before moving to Espanyol where he spent seven years.
He switched to Malaga in early 2012 and went on to make 113 appearances for the club before departing the side for Fenerbahce after a five-year stay.
The highly-rated goalkeeper played all three knock-out matches to help Cameroon win Olympic football gold at the 2000 Games in Sydney.
Kameni also played a key role as the Indomitable Lions finished runners up at the 2003 Fifa Confederations Cup in France.
He has 74 caps for his country and was part of the Cameroon squad at the 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
