Russia-based midfielder Charles Kabore has become the first Burkina Faso player to test positive for Covid-19.
The Stallions captain, who turns for Dynamo Moscow, has been sent for isolation for seven days, after which he will be tested again to see if he still tests positive for coronavirus.
Dynamo Moscow has so far not released a statement to confirm the player; however, Kabore has disclosed his positive status adding that he is asymptomatic.
“I thank you very much for your many messages since yesterday (Saturday). Thank you very much for the support. I give thanks to God, I have developed no symptoms,” said Kabore in a message posted on his official Facebook page.
“I am complying with the rules of staying in quarantine to feel better, protect others and heal completely. In Burkina Faso and around the world, thank you and take care of yourself. God bless you.”
Kabore joined Dynamo Moscow in July 2019 on a two year deal from FK Krasnodar, after rejected a contract extension with the club.
The 32-year-old was expected to feature in Sunday’s Russian Premier League restart fixture against his former side at Krasnodar Stadium.
Dynamo Moscow teammates Clinton Njie and Roman Evngeniev have also tested positive for the disease which claimed almost 100 more lives on Sunday, bringing the total in Russia to 8,111.
Kabore has scored four goals in 86 appearances for Burkina Faso since making his debut in 2006.
