AFC Leopards defender, David Ochieng has expressed his disappointment after he was left out of Harambee Stars’ preliminary African Cup of Nations squad that was named on Tuesday.

The central defender, who moved to Leopards in March, was one of the regulars who were snubbed by coach Sebastien Migne as the Frenchman opted to include young Bernard Ochieng and Joseph Okumu at the expense of the experienced utility man who can also play in midfield.

In an interview, the defender who has played in Saudi Arabia, USA and Sweden spoke of his disappointment at the snub.

“I am really frustrated by this snub because I genuinely feel I deserved this opportunity. It’s painful but then it is up to the coach to decide who goes. I wish the team well,” he said.

Cheche, as he’s famously known, says he’ll not quit the national team and has vowed to work harder.

“I will work harder. I won’t quit. I may say more about this matter someday, “he added.

Harambee Stars will camp in France for three weeks before departing for Egypt for AFCON.
