Christian Bassogog Infuriated By Cameroonian Journalist

Henan Jianye and Cameroon forward Christian Bassogog is not happy with sports journalist Franck Eric Diffo alleging that an article published by Sports Vibes three days ago defamed him.

Henan Jianye and Cameroon forward Christian Bassogog is not happy with sports journalist Franck Eric Diffo alleging that an article published by Sports Vibes three days ago defamed him.

According to Cameroun Web, Bassogog contended that the pieced discredited his image as it questioned his move and his current form at Chinese Super League outfit.

Diffo said the article published was not false but a fair comment on a matter concerning the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Most Valuable Player.

Diffo has accused the Cameroonian footballer of being behind members of his family who are reported to have turned furious by unleashing death threats.

“I am a victim of threats since May 23, 2020 from the close relatives of Cameroon international footballer Christian Bassogog,” Eric Diffo wrote in an open letter.

“I received life threats this morning [Sunday] while I was playing my routine keep fit Sunday morning football. The player [Bassogog] came to our training ground with his car and threatened to get physical with me.

“I was only rescued by those who were present at the field but he [Bassogog] left and promised that I have not heard the last from him.

“This incident took place in the presence of the Secretary-General of CASJ, Sylvain Kwambi,” Diffo concluded.

On Monday, Bassogog’s elder brother Herman denied the family made any death threat to the journalist.

“He was never threatened, he was just asked to stop his smear campaign against Christian. He is part of a group of mutual friends. We know each other well,” he said as translated from French.

“We were surprised by his attacks on Christian Bassogog. I personally called him to ask him about the problem he has with my brother. There has never been a death threat. I’m surprised to read what he posted on social media. ”

Bassogog joined Henan Jianye in February 2017 from Danish club Aab Fodbold , on a fee estimated to be $8.7 million.

The Cameroonian’s football career started with Douala outfit Rainbow FC back home before he joined United Soccer League side Wilmington Hammerheads in April 2015.

His performance for the North Carolina-based side, who will receive a slice of the transfer fee paid by Henan Jianye, earned him a trial at AaB and he was duly rewarded with a four-year contract in August 2015.

During his time in Denmark, he scored four goals in 32 appearances for the four-time Superliga champions.
