Coach Bernard Set for Showdown Talks with Algerian Club Over Unpaid Wages

A step has been taken towards ending the fracas between Algerian league vice-champions MC Alger and sacked coach Bernard Casoni.

A step has been taken towards ending the fracas between Algerian league vice-champions MC Alger and sacked coach Bernard Casoni.

The French was fired from his managerial role after failing to guide MC Alger to African Champions League deeper stages.

The club board were convinced they had the side to compete in Africa and saw Bernard’s inability to attain their setout goal as abysmal.

A trigger-happy Abdenacer Almas wasted little time in wielding the axe – a move Bernard feels was wrongful dismal and sought redress with FIFA.

The 58-year-old is demanding to be reinstated to his role in the team or else be paid his full four months wages in one go.

Reports monitored in Algiers suggest the world football governing body had asked MC to hold on with their process of recruiting Nabil Nguiz as Bernard’s replacement until a solution is found. Owing to this, a report claims Nabil is blocked from barking instructions from MC’s technical dug-out.

However, there is a new twist to this case. Ducor Sports can report that Casoni is understood to be willing to jet down in Alger for talks with the outfit’s new management.

An insider from within the close circles hinted that the Frenchman is asking to be paid all the four months as a condition to terminate his deal.

A different source claims MC Alger were willing to release funds into the coach’s account last Wednesday but were held by the payment plan.
