Comoros winger Salim Moizini has signed a contract extension with French third-tier side Lyon-Duchere until 2020, the club announced on Thursday.
The 33-year-old has been an indispensable part of Duchere squad since his arrival from CA Bastia in the summer of 2015.
Moizini has made 91 appearances for Duchere, scoring 18 goals while assisting 12, making him one of the most successful foreign players in the club’s history.
The Comorian’s existing contact was due to expire at the end of this season but he has agreed to remain at the club, signing a deal until July 2020.
“I am very happy to be able to continue the adventure under Duchérois jersey. Five seasons in a player’s career is not nothing, it is synonymous with longevity and I am proud that the club and the new coach renew my confidence,” Moizini told the club’s official website as translated from French.
Moizini added, “I hope to bring all my experience to the new group that is emerging to fulfil the newly set goals of the club.”
Earlier this year, Comoros handed the French-born midfielder his first call up for their last 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Cameroon, where the Islanders lost 3-0.
Comoros are set to play against Ivory Coast on Friday in an international friendly that is set to be played at Stade de la Liberation in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France
Moizini will be expected to play a pivotal role in the match and many believe he will go on and cement a regular place in the team due to his electric pace and high work-rate at club level.
